About Us Chapter 2

It’s been quite a year! Full of ups and downs–lots of laughter and love, tears of joy, concern and just plain exhaustion!

So, three days after we embarked on this grand idea to own our own business, Andréa accepted a position in North Carolina and began traveling back and forth between CT, NC and CO each week where she manages teams.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, well, the Coffee Shop, Doug has been holding down the fort managing Operations, hiring, catering and customer service.

Catina was our first employee and she helped us prepare for our grand opening. Catina returned to college-we miss her bright smile and excellent customer service. We hired our niece Micah who jumped in and quickly learned the business. Micah left in January to pursue a new job in DC. She drops by to help us have breaks-like Valentine’s Day weekend–what a Peach! Our girls, Halle, Jayda and Maya spent some time this year learning the business, too. In February, we hired a Restaurant Manager, Kelly. Kelly has been a Godsend. Shortly after we hired her, in April, Doug had a health scare and had to have surgery with very little notice. On top of it, some of our regular customers, along with family, surrounded us with LOVE by pitching in and checking on Doug during his recovery period. We are blessed.

We have so many things to be grateful for: We celebrated our first wedding anniversary in May, we closed on a townhome in NC so Andréa could stop living out of her car :-). Halle graduated from Glastonbury High in June and will start in the Honors program studying Biology at UCONN in the fall and BBC still here!

We are so appreciative of our customers who have become part of our family. We have helped to welcome in new babies -yep Oliver–we mean you! We’ve supported small business owners like Tisa – Stella and Dot anyone? We watched our brave little Maeve conquer a broken arm with grace and beauty! All of these big and small moments have helped us become part of this community fabric and we are appreciative.

We are excited about what fun adventures year 2 will bring.
